CamSpec M550 SPF Spectrophotometer

CamSpec M550 Integrating Sphere

Measure the SPF of fabrics with this package designed specifically for the fabrics industry.

The system comprises of a CamSpec M550 double beam scanning spectrophotometer with an integrating sphere accessory installed, controlled via comprehensive PC software CamSpec SPF Windows™.

This instrument can be used as a conventional double beam scanning spectrometer by removing the sphere and reference attenuator.

Exceptional sensitivity, resolution, stray light, noise and drift specifications.

Calibrated in the UK by qualified engineers using international standards for wavelength, absorbance, resolution and stray light.

Features

  • Highly efficient, removable integrating sphere
  • Sample-effect compensation
  • Low noise, high accuracy
  • User friendly operation
  • Automatic calculations
  • Report generation
  • Validation

Application

The CamSpec M550SPF package is intended for measurement and analysis of sun/UV penetration and protection. The package has been specifically designed for analysts working in the fabrics industry that need an accurate and reliable method of determining the sun blocking properties of fabrics for UV-A and UV-B wavelengths.

Integrating Sphere

The purpose designed integrating sphere, which meets the requirements of international standards, efficiently collects all the scattered radiation transmitted by the fabric.  The Opdima surface has a very high reflectivity throughout the UV-R region, diffusely reflecting the radiation on to a solid state detector mounted at the top of the sphere.

CamSpec M550 Operating Modes

  • Basic Mode (Abs, %T, Conc)
  • Quantitative (concentration calibration curves)
  • Wavelength Scanning
  • Kinetics (including timedrive)
  • DNA/Protein
  • Multi-Wavelength
  • Performance Validation

Conformity

The system is for measuring the sun blocking properties of fabrics and fully conforms to the following test methods:

  • European Standard EN 13758-1
  • American (AATCC Test Method 183.1998)
  • British (BS 7914:1998)
  • Australian and New Zealand (AS/NZS
    4399:1996)

The appropriate method should be read in full by those intending to make formal measurements. Calibrated in the UK using wavelength, absorbance, resolution and stray light international standards by qualified engineers. References should be chosen whose calibrated values “bracket” the conditions to be used for analysis.
